Writing and Editing Experience

Writing: Writer for the past two+ decades, both online and off. Past credits include Woman’s Day, Playboy Online, Best Reviews, the Chicago Tribune, and several years writing for Smart Computing Magazine, as well as many smaller publications. I am also the author of three books and was co-founder of the political/social satire site

Editing and proofreading: Was the online Philosophy Editor for Experience in content editing, copy editing, and proofreading, as well as online content management systems. Experience with photo editing programs such as Photoshop and Gimp.

Website management: Very familiar with a variety of technologies and programs, including HTML, WordPress, and other content management systems. I have had extensive experience with formatting and proofreading copy, embedding media, checking and updating inbound and outbound links, adding and maintaining affiliate links, and other website tasks.

Screenwriting and fiction: Writer of numerous scripts that have gone on to win a number of contests/film festivals, including the Omaha Film Festival (1st), Phoenix Film Festival (1st), deadCenter Film Festival (1st), the Hollywood Screenplay Contest (Grand Prize Winner, Short Screenplay), as well as others. My short script “Tattoo” was made into a short film in 2016. Over the past couple of years I have been more active writing short fiction for anthologies and publications such as Cosmic Horror Monthly and Trembling With Fear. I am currently a judge for the Cinema Life film festivals collective.


Work History

Mattress Insider – 2022 to present

I worked on a short-term project with several other writers to add a variety of 2000-5000 word articles to the website on a variety of mattress-related topics. This project involved working with 3rd party outlines with an eye towards current SEO practices. – 2017 to 2021

I wrote a variety of different types of material while here, from shorter product round-ups to more topical consumer content. From 2018 onwards, I mostly wrote 1500-2000 word evergreen material that covered everything from tech and home & garden to automotive and clothing/apparel topics. This position was research-intensive, and involved working with several different CMSs. This project closed down in late 2021.

Freelance Writer – 1997 to present

I’ve written on a wide range of topics for dozens of publications and websites during this time.

Crystal Air Productions – 1998 to 2012

There were actually two versions of this that I was involved with: Crystal Air Productions, 1998 to 2003, where I wrote satiric radio skits that were produced in Boston for a couple of different national radio programs; and, 2005-2010, which published social and political satiric pieces (much like The Onion).

Published Books – 2004 to 2006

I published several books during this period, including “Click or Treat! The Best of Halloween and Horror on the Internet” (McFarland & Company, Inc., 2004), “The Internet Guide to Survival and Self-Reliance” (Paladin Press, 2005), and “The Frugal Senior” (Quill Driver Books, 2006).

Philosophy Guide, – 1997 to 2001

Responsible for all aspect of writing for and managing the Philosophy site on Some of these responsibilities include: overseeing an active community, including chats and several forums; writing all articles, indexes, link annotations, etc.; writing a biweekly newsletter with a subscription base of 3000; page optimization for search engines.
